Do your family and friends rave about your tacos? Are you a whiz in the kitchen and want to express your creativity? Is Mexican cooking one of your fortes? If so, you have a chance to compete in the Great American Taco Challenge being sponsored by Alegria in Long Beach. Amateur chefs are invited to submit their recipes no later than Friday, April 25 and 5 finalists will be invited to prepare their creations on Thursday, May 1 at 10 a.m. before a panel of expert judges (finalists must attend the judging to be considered). Each finalist will receive a $100 gift certificate and the winner will earn $300 in gift certificates that may be redeemed at Alegria, Agaves Kitchen & Tequila and Gaucho Grill – all located on Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach. The winning taco will be featured on Alegria’s menu on Cinco de Mayo (May 5) and all funds raised will be donated to the winner’s favorite charity.
