Amateur Chefs Invited To Compete In Alegria Taco Challenge

Do your family and friends rave about your tacos?  Are you a whiz in the kitchen and want to express your creativity?  Is Mexican cooking one of your fortes? If so, you have a chance to compete in the Great American Taco Challenge being sponsored by Alegria in Long Beach.  Amateur chefs are invited to submit their recipes no later than Friday, April 25 and 5 finalists will be invited to prepare their creations on Thursday, May 1 at 10 a.m. before a panel of expert judges (finalists must attend the judging to be considered).  Each finalist will receive a $100 gift certificate and the winner will earn $300 in gift certificates that may be redeemed at Alegria, Agaves Kitchen & Tequila and Gaucho Grill – all located on Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach.  The winning taco will be featured on Alegria’s menu on Cinco de Mayo (May 5) and all funds raised will be donated to the winner’s favorite charity.  Recipes should be submitted to AlegriaLongBeach@gmail.com; for more information call (562) 491-1000.

“What better way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than with a fun and spirited competition that ultimately benefits a worthy cause,” said Adrian Amosa, owner of the 3 restaurants.  “We are just putting on the finishing touches to the newly renovated Alegria so it will be a great opportunity for our finalists to be among the first to see it.”

Amosa is widely considered the kingpin of the vibrant Latin dining scene in Long Beach.  In addition to Alegria, the busy restaurateur now operates 3 bustling restaurants on Pine Avenue Gaucho Grill and Agaves Kitchen and Tequila.  He also owns and operates a 2nd Gaucho Grill in Brentwood.
