Hotel Maya Launches Sunday Fuego Latin Brunch Dine and Dance Series With Free Latin Dance Lessons

It takes two to Tango at Fuego at Hotel Maya and that also goes for the Samba, Ramba and Salsa with the all-new Fuego Latin Brunch Dine and Dance Series beginning Sunday, March 30.

The Fuego Latin Brunch Dine and Dance Series features Salsa lessons on March 30, Rumba lessons on June 8, Tango lessons on August 24 and Samba lessons on October 19. World-renowned Latin dance instructor Jackie Rios will lead the lessons from 12-1 p.m. and 2-3 p.m. with social dance from 3-5 p.m. The free dance lessons coincide with the ever-popular Fuego Sunday Brunch that runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $37.00.

Live Latin music will accompany each Latin Brunch Dine and Dance series and will be interplayed with taped music for the Latin dance lessons.

Jackie Rios has appeared in movies including “Shall We Dance,” “Dance With Me,” and “Salsa,” among others, and on television in “Dirty Dancing” and “Resurrection Blvd.”

Rios has been a dance instructor for 25 years and has been teaching at John Casesse Dance Doctor Studio in Santa Monica, Calif., since 2006.

 According to Rios, the varieties of Latin Dances have diverse geographic reach and cultural influence, “Salsa, the dance of the Caribbean, is hot and sensual and has become an international dance for all ages and levels. I consider Rumba the Latin waltz. It's romantic with the Cuban hip motion. It's a box step that once you learn it you can apply it to any slow tempo music. Tango is the dance of love, where two people become one. The Argentina music, it's slow and quick, kicks, and dips is what make this dance. Samba, the dance of Brazil, is a combination of dances including salsa, rumba, and merengue. It's the Carnival of dance.”
