JDC CONSTRUCTION + DEVELOPMENT GROUP UNDERTAKES RENOVATION OF HARBOR AREA APARTMENT COMPLEXES

JDC Construction + Development Group (JDC), a construction company with focused expertise in the renovation and revitalization of multifamily properties, has been retained to revitalize the Portofino Apartments, a 200-unit multifamily complex located at 1625 W. Pacific Coast Highway in Wilmington, CA. The company also recently announced the completion of the restoration and refurbishment of a 237-unit, 6.5-acre apartment community in Long Beach, CA. The combined renovation budget for both Harbor area projects exceeds $5 million, according to John R. Donaldson, JDC’s founder and president.

Donaldson noted that the Portofino was built in 1988. “As such, the project was architecturally dated. Our challenge was to meet the owner’s requirement to add a European ambiance to the townhouse property, thus enhancing its appeal to new tenants,” he said. This is being accomplished by changing the exterior paint pallet, adding new awnings and incorporating a sweeping paver stone entryway. “We are also updating the community room and clubhouse along with the fitness center, all of which open up onto two newly renovated pools and a central BBQ area.” JDC completed the major renovation of the Alvista Apartments in Long Beach earlier this year. The well-located apartment community is located at 1718 Ximeno Avenue in the Anaheim Park Estates section of the beach city.

Portofino and Alvista are just two of eight similar multifamily projects now under construction or recently completed under the JDC banner. These include communities in Ontario, North Hills, San Jose, Garden Grove and La Habra, CA. Together, these projects total more than 1,300 units with a renovation budget in excess of $11 million.
