SOSC Welcomes Ruby Guerrero as Schools, Youth and Families Manager

Long Beach, CA – January 6, 2014 – Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) is pleased to welcome Ruby Guerrero as the new Schools, Youth and Families Manager.

 

As the Schools, Youth and Families Manager, Guerrero is responsible for managing four major Special Olympics initiatives including School Partnership Program, Project UNIFY, Family Initiatives, and Young Athletes Program. These initiatives are quickly growing and require Guerrero’s past experience in growing and establishing new programs within youth communities.

Before becoming the Schools, Youth and Families Manager, Guerrero was the Director of Community Partnerships at LA’s Promise. She worked with over 80 community organizations to implement their programs in large comprehensive high schools, creating online directories where families, students and teachers could refer students for services such as tutoring, counseling and enrichment courses.

Guerrero received her Masters of Science in School Counseling Leadership from California State University, Los Angeles in June of 2012.
