Long Beach Libraries: Stop, Drop, Read

On Friday, Long Beach librarians encourage everyone to drop everything and read something in support of literacy.

Wherever you find yourself on Friday at noon, Long Beach Public Library wants you to stop and read.

The "Stop, Drop Everything and Read" campaign is part of National Library Month when libraries throughout the country promote reading and literacy.

"Whether you are downtown, visiting your local neighborhood library, encouraging this at school or work, just read wherever you are on the 12th," said Darla Wegener, manager of the Long Beach main library, in a news release.

Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster and City Council members are scheduled to participate in the event as well.

"Take a picture of yourself reading at 12 noon on Friday, April 12, 2013 and post it to your Facebook [page] or email to lbpl.mobile@gmail.com," Wegener said.
