High Tide Breaches Berm at Ocean and 55th Place

Search and rescue volunteers are sandbagging and public works personnel are on scene rebuilding the berm.

An extraordinarily high tide has breached the sand berm at Ocean Boulevard and 55th Place in Long Beach, says Brian Fisk, Firefighter-Paramedic with the Long Beach Fire Department.

Search and rescue volunteers are sandbagging and public works personnel are on scene rebuilding the berm, he says.

Three engines and 15-20 firefighters, along with two battalion chiefs, are also at the scene, Fisk says.

No damage to structures has been reported.
