Police Need Help ID'ing Suspects in Assault on 19-Year-Old Woman

Police today were seeking the public's help in identifying two men suspected in the violent assault of a 19-year-old woman at a Long Beach apartment complex.

The victim was assaulted around 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 2000 block of Beverly Plaza, according to Long Beach police.

She was walking through the complex talking on a cell phone when a male she didn't know engaged her in a brief conversation, police said.

"Suddenly, without provocation, a second subject physically assaulted her, repeatedly, and she lost consciousness," according to a police statement.

The woman, whose cell phone was stolen during the assault, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of "significant facial injuries," according to police.

"Prior to the incident, two suspicious looking male subjects were seen walking on the grounds of the complex," according to the police statement.

One was described as Hispanic or black, 20 to 22 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and approximately 180 pounds. He had a light complexion and was wearing a dark-colored hat and dark clothing. The other was described as black, also 20-22 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, approximately and 195 pounds with a stocky build. He was wearing all dark clothing.
