Suspect Booked in Long Beach Murder, Attempted Murder

Long Beach police arrested Henry Reyes on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after the death of his wife and shooting of her teenage son.

Long Beach police arrested a man they believe shot and killed his wife and attempted to murder her teenage son Monday night at a Clair Del Avenue apartment.

Police said 36-year-old Henry Reyes murdered Lorena Reyes, 41, and wounded his stepson, a teenager. The boy remained in critical but stable condition Tuesday evening.

According to police, Reyes fled after the shootings, but later surrendered to Los Angeles police, who turned him over to Long Beach officers.

Investigators said Reyes and his wife had recently separated and the suspect was not living in the apartment, located in the 4800 block of Clair Del Avenue. The shooting followed a "domestic incident" between the couple, which escalated into the shooting, according to police.

Reyes was being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $1 million bail.
