Suspect in Long Beach Man's Stabbing Death Arrested

A Wilmington, CA man was arrested in connection to the stabbing death of a 24-year-old Long Beach man, police announced Monday.

At around noon Sunday, Francisco Javier Gaytan, 43, was arrested in Wilmington for the alleged murder of Raul Sanchez, police said.

Sanchez was stabbed on the torso at around 6:25 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Daisy Avenue, according to a police news release. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation revealed that the suspect had been in a physical fight with the victim when the stabbing occurred, the release said.

Gayton is being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $1 million bail. Police will be presenting the case to the district attorney’s office Tuesday, according to the press release.
