Suspect Tries to Take Gun from Bank Security Guard, Ends Up Getting Shot at by Police

The non-injury shooting occurred around 5:50 p.m. near the intersection of Mountain View Street and Pacific Avenue.

A robbery suspect was in custody tonight following a non-injury officer-involved shooting in Long Beach, authorities said.

The shooting occurred around 5:50 p.m. near the intersection of Mountain View Street and Pacific Avenue, after officers had responded to an earlier call of a person being robbed, Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department said.

Police told a videographer at the scene the robbery was an attempt to take a handgun from a security guard at a Bank of America branch in the 5200 block of Long Beach Boulevard.

The videographer said the security guard flagged down a passing police officer who gave chase to the suspect and then confronted him.
