Two Arrested on Suspicion of Long Beach Man's Murder

Two men were arrested Wednesday night by Long Beach Police on suspicion of murder following an incident that resulted in the death of a 41-year-old Long Beach man, authorities said.

Shawn Halloran II, 23, was arrested in Garden Grove, CA and Marcus Word, 36, was arrested in Long Beach for murder of Albert Carl III. Both suspects are from Long Beach, according to police press release.

The incident happened at approximately 11:55 p.m. Tuesday where authorities were responding to a battery call at the 700 block of Via Wanda. According to the release, the suspects were known to Carl and forced their way into his home and a fight broke out. After the suspects left, a relative found him lying on the floor unresponsive and called the paramedics. Carl was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There were no obvious signs of trauma, but Carl was unconscious and not breathing by time paramedics arrived. The cause of death is pending an autopsy, according to the release.

The case was forwarded to the district attorney who will determine the charges filed, police said.
