Two Vehicles Race Down Ocean Boulevard, One Person Dies

The driver of one vehicle lost control for unknown reasons, ejecting both occupants.

One person was killed and a second seriously injured in a street race on Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach tonight, authorities said.

The collision occurred in the 1100 block of West Ocean Boulevard around 10:10 p.m., Long Beach Fire Department public information officer Brian Fisk said.

Witnesses told firefighters at the scene that two vehicles had been racing immediately before the accident, Fisk said.

One occupant was pronounced dead at a hospital, and the other was hospitalized with serious injuries, Fisk said.
