Day Two Review And A Concert

Day two is when the grid is set for the official IndyCar Race of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

While some people cooled off in the Lifestyle Expo at the Convention Center and took in the many new things coming out from Xbox, car companies, and other vendors, the teams of IndyCar were hard at work with one more practice before qualifying. Others enjoyed the Rock N Roar concert with Paul Rodgers to finish their day.

The Grid Is Set

Today in qualifying, #28 Ryan Hunter-Reay took the pole running at 01:07.8219 in front of #27 James Hinchcliffe with a margin of .001184 seconds. Rounding out the top three is #11 Sebastien Bourdais, who was just .000177 seconds behind the strong running UFD Team.

Takuma Sato incurred a qualifying interference penalty in the first session of qualifying, and lost his best two laps of the day. This has left him starting 15th on the grid.

Will Power in car #12 is also starting behind in the grid at the 13th position, next to Tony Kanaan #10 who is 14th in qualifying. Tony Kanaan's teammate Scott Dixon Is 7th on the grid, just a mere .000298 seconds behind #77 Simon Pagenaud after showing solid leads in qualifying earlier today.

It is always difficult to predict a winner, so let's go ahead and name MY picks for the top three finishers tomorrow. Not in order, James Hinchcliffe, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Scott Dixon. I picked two out of three top three for St. Petersburg two weeks ago, and I am confident in these choices.
