Cold Readings: The Ultimate Actor's Challenge and WoW!

Caprice Rothe produced several one-act plays during arts month in Long Beach. She will do one more for the homeless youth of Southern California and for Woman of Worth Catherine Meek.

New friend Caprice Rothe held a lot of COLD readings of one-act plays during Arts Month.  I was too busy and didn't make any of them... I didn't even have time to write about them!  I was very disappointed.

COLD Readings Are the Ultimate Actor's Challenge

What is a Cold Reading?  The ultimate challenge for an actor.  Without preparation, props or planning (oops, too many P's last week) the actor is handed a script and asked to deliver the part.

For the sake and fun of this conversation, I will call her Producer/Director Caprice Rothe, because that is the role she plays.  She reads hundreds of one-act plays and selects them based on criteria I can only imagine.

She has also lined up the actors.  I imagine she has interviewed many, and selects the actors for the reading.

She scheduled many venues during the month of October.  I'm sure many Patch readers witnessed this, as she planned for many venues - Wherever people gathered.

Very cool.  I'm sorry I missed them all.

BUT...I will have a second chance!

Caprice Rothe will schedule a very special Cold Reading to make visible a technique used in actor's auditions and to help L'Oreal Woman of Worth Catherine Meek.

Mark the proposed date (in pencil).  We're looking at November 17th.  This is a Saturday.  In fact, a week from today.  There's a lot to be done, but we do have a play in mind.

She's that good.  I told her about Catherine and she took less than a minute and came up with the play.  More about that tomorrow.

For now, please vote daily for L'Oreal Woman of Worth Catherine Meek who is doing an amazing job helping the homeless youth of Southern California to have some normalcy in their lives.
