Giant Ice Sculputures Return for Queen Mary's Chill Event [Photos]

Ice sculptures, ice tubing and ice skating return to Queen Mary's Chill holiday event through Jan. 5.

The Queen Mary's holiday-themed event "Chill" reuturned to Long Beach for its second year last night bringing with it more than two million pounds of ice sculptures, ice tubing and ice skating.

The event's main attraction features a 14,000 square-foot tent housing meticulously carved ice sculptures in an arctic-like environment kept at a chilling nine degrees fahrenheit. Each ice sculpture, carved by a team of experts flown in from Harbin, China, was carved to portray characters from The Nutcracker.

The ice attraction also features 30-foot high replica of the Queen Mary's bow, complete with three ice slides for guests to ride down. To protect from the cold, guests are given long blue parkas upon entering.

Outside the ice attraction, guests also have a chance to ride tubes down a two-story ice slide, go ice skating in front of the Queen Mary or partake in various other holiday activities and live entertainment.

Chill is open Tuesdays through Sundays through Jan. 5. Tickets begin at $29.95 for adults and $14.95 for children, which includes admission and either ice skating or tubing. Skate rental and additional tubing or skating tickets are extra.
