Gay Pride Kicks Off in Long Beach

A dizzying number of events are beginning to unfold for the weekend in Long Beach as part of what's become the fourth largest lesbian and gay pride celebration in the country.

Officially, the Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride Festival  kicks off Saturday and concludes with the Gay Pride Parade Sunday. But it is such a huge celebration -behind only Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City - that all the fun cannot be contained in just two days. There is a Teen Pride Festival  from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. A Family Fun Festival lasts fro 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Some of the other key events.

 The Pink Party(Organized by the Downtown Long Beach Association.) Friday, May 17, from 8 pm to midnight at First and Linden downtown, the event turns the streets into a sea of pink as guests are encouraged to dress the part.
The outdoor dance party will include DJs, and performances by "RuPaul's Drag Race" stars Latrice Royale, Detox, Delta Work, Raja and Sonique.

The Festival May 18 & 19, 2013 from11am  – 11pm along Shoreline Drive. 
Tickets are $20 at the gate..
The Festival Celebration includes seven large dance areas.
