Former Cal State Long Beach Student Missing

Placentia police asked the public Wednesday for help finding a 24-year-old woman who has been missing for more than a week.

Shameca Lewis Johnson was last seen about noon to 2 p.m., Aug. 20, when she left her home in the 1500 block of Sierra Bonita, Placentia police Detective Corinne Loomis said.

One of her roommates saw her leave and thought she was walking to work, but she wasn't scheduled to work that day, Loomis said.

“She walked out like any other normal day,” Loomis said. “At first we thought it was a scheduled work day and that’s what (the roommate) thought.”

Johnson, who graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a theater degree, was having trouble finding a job in her field, but did not have any other major issues, Loomis said.

Johnson has no car or bank account, but had some cash with her, Loomis said. Her cell phone has been turned off or inactive, she said, adding that police were unable to find her by phone. Loomis said it was uncharacteristic for Johnson to miss work or not stay in touch with family members.

Johnson is about 5 feet 3 inches and 105 pounds, with has red hair and brown eyes, Loomis said. She was last seen wearing a black tank top, khaki pants, plastic multi-colored bracelets, a chain-mail bracelet, and a silver thumb ring.

Johnson also had a tan leather wallet on a chain and a dark-colored Camelback backpack, Loomis said.
